And… we’re off! The Lower School year began with our annual Back to School Bash, as students met their teachers and played outside with friends old and new. The bounce houses were a hit, as well as the football BBQ fundraiser! Now that we have started, we are moving full force into academics. But at Harvest, academics also means FUN! If you stop by Lower School, you might see 1st graders on a dinosaur hunt throughout the halls, as they search for and classify dinosaurs by what they eat- carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Peek into 4th grade, and you may see students playing a dice game and graphing the results during math or hands deep in a science project for their weather unit! Stroll past our Jr. Kindergarten classroom and you’ll hear lots of giggles as children fish foam shapes out of a water bucket with tweezers and sort them by size in center time. We believe in hand-on interactive learning at Harvest, and a trip through our Lower School building will show you just that!
Our 4th/5th choir has also begun, so you can expect to hear some great performances from them throughout the year! And we have over 35 students participating in afterschool intramurals with Coach Kumpf, which runs through Thanksgiving break. In our art classes, students have already been producing some wonderful pieces of Olympic inspired art- look for these coming home soon!
