Building good study habits

In sixth grade, students generally look to their parents for help in organization and building good study habits. This beginning year of middle school can seem overwhelming to students at first as they acclimate to multiple teachers, lesson plans, and subjects. The process of taking notes, studying for tests, completing nightly math homework, and keeping up with home school assignments takes time to master.

Some students are capable of handling this on their own in 6th grade while others need the help and support of their parents. It is important for parents to remember that each student is different and will grow and mature at a different rate. Many students will need their parents to remain very involved in their schoolwork throughout the year.
